I haven't photographed birds in awhile but when I first started photography it was one of my favorite things to do. In all honesty, being outside with wildlife is still my greatest photography passion but unfortunately the wildlife could care less if I'm getting paid for my services.
This is just a small collection of my bird photos. Most of the photos were achieved by 'staging' the birds around a feeder. I had never heard about staging wildlife until I read an article similar to this one. Staging is easy to do but requires patience until the birds feel comfortable. My staged feeder was approximately 30 feet outside my window so I could shoot indoors behind a curtain.
My favorite birds to watch are hawks, bald eagles, and ospreys. We currently have an eagle living a mile from our home but I haven't tried to photograph him yet. I'm happy to see they are becoming more populated in our area. The Indiana DNR has worked very hard to get them back.
