I was fortunate enough to find plenty of lodging since we were midway into the pandemic and hardly anyone was traveling in 2020. The photo above was from our condo that had direct access to New Smyrna Beach. For the first time I booked my room with VRBO and I was completely satisfied with the entire process. I'll definitely use VRBO for future travels. While it was not a fancy hotel, it gave me exactly what I wanted ... direct beach access! The rooms were very clean and the staff was readily available. I had no problems parking my rental car and there was a pool and beach right outside my door.
New Smyrna Beach is a Florida city south of Daytona Beach. It's a surf hub known for its beaches, including nearby Canaveral National Seashore. The coastal Smyrna Dunes Park has views of Ponce Inlet and its lighthouse.
On day two of our photo shoot we drove 30 minutes North to visit Daytona Beach. I had never been there and was surprised to see how populated and dirty it was. It did not compare in the least to the nice quiet beach area of New Smyrna, but it did give us the special lighting we were seeking in places such as the arcade, boardwalk and ice cream shop. We also had a fantastic sunset that evening. It was a spectacular photo shoot location but as far as a future vacation destination, it was personally not my cup of tea. It is however jam packed with things to do and was a good day trip.
Daytona Beach is a city on Florida's Atlantic coast. The beach has hard-packed sand where driving is permitted in designated areas. Nearby is boardwalk's rides and arcades. Near the boardwalk's rides and arcades, Daytona Beach Bandshell stages free summer concerts.
There were too many photos to post all of them in my blog but here are a few of my favorites from the trip.
Happy Travels and see you next time!
